The Skatalites

Mid 1950s a new musical style evolved in Jamaica. Mento, Calypso and African rhythms were blended with new western music like rock 'n roll and boogie-woogie to create the most swinging music the world has ever heard: SKA! Only one band can perform this history in person: The Skatalites, who were celebrating their 50th anniversary a few years ago. Luckily the gentlemen and lady still cross the pond once in a while and although many members of the original line-up are sadly not with us anymore, it's an honor everytime they're playing the Melkweg again. Why you have to see this? It's simple...if you haven't seen The Skatalites, you don't know what ska is!
